Hi! My name is Rick Fenrich. I founded xStar Research to empower companies to design better and more impactful products by developing and applying cutting edge optimization and uncertainty quantification methods. We are building software for architects and building designers that integrates with existing AEC software and helps to design more sustainable buildings.

I am trained as an aerospace engineer (PhD, Stanford University), and have a background in physics simulation, mathematical optimization, statistics, and software development. I've developed new algorithms and production-level software for coupled multiphysics problems in the aerospace and additive manufacturing industries. I am a LEED Green Associate and member of ASHRAE and IBPSA.
